The questionnaire you receive will help us understand what's important to you, even details you hadn't thought of. Biophilic design is a proven way to improve all environments. The design presented to you will include these concepts that feature ways to aid in your physical and mental health. This scientific lens sets us apart and extends to understanding the movement of patterns (Bio Mimicry), the psychological impact of environments (light, texture, and nature inspired elements), and the nuanced effects of color theory. Ultimately, we want your space to do even more than meet your functional needs, we want to improve on your unique lifestyle.

Question 2

How much time does it take for a project, start to finish?

We will discuss your desired timeline upfront and give you honest feedback as to how long a project like yours can take.  Our past projects have ranged from as brief as 6 months to as extensive as 2 years. The key is, personalized design requires time. This process includes deep conversations to understand your story and tastes, followed by revisions to perfect the design. This is an investment that will last decades if not generational, every aspect matters when creating your one of a kind environment.

How do you work with the contractor and suppliers?

One of the biggest aspects of our job is taking the stress out of the design process. There are a lot of questions to be answered. We are your liaison between contractor, tradesmen, and suppliers. We are here to support them, thus supporting you. Anything needed for the design we will take care of along the way.

Can we order our own materials?

We recommend all materials be ordered through Laksmi Interiors and a trusted General Contractor. There is a barage of options that are needed to complete a design. It has taken decades to know what is needed to complete and implement a design. Laksmi Interiors takes on the task of ordering all aesthetic furnishings and fixtures. With renovation projects, proper project management needs to take place to ensure all materials are received correctly, undamaged and in the quantity specified. When all materials are accounted for on a detailed list the entire process runs smoothly, thus eliminating costly delays and back and forth questions from contractor to client. Project management is extensive and requires thorough implementation. Laksmi Interiors has trade accounts with reputable companies that offer quality goods. We charge the reasonable reatil rate in  lieu of our hourly rate. The mark up on furnishings and fixtures is the payment for services rendered and pays for the project management.

Is it normal to feel nervous about starting?

The short answer is yes. Seeing your home torn apart can be unsettling and the disruption of day to day life can be taxing. Making sure there is a plan in place for day to day activities is essential and a great contractor will make sure you are taken care of as much as possible during the renovation. Creating a barrier to eliminate dust, setting up a sink if possible that is easily accessible, and sticking with a solid renovation schedule so you know how long the process should take will put your mind at ease. The biggest benefit will be having a trained professional designer alongside you the whole way through.

Is the information we share confidential?

Due to the nature of implementing Neuroaesthetic philosophies we ask a lot of questions that may be personal. This includes questions about trauma, health related concerns, mental stress considerations, and how the family operates with each other. You are asked to answer whatever you feel comfortable answering. The more information you give the better tailored the design is to your well being. Your responses are sacred and are 100% confidential, never being shared outside of Laksmi Interiors.

Question 7

Can we do renovations in stages?

Yes! Many times this is the preferred practice. Renovations are often stressful. Pending your design it can make better financial sense to do everything at once, but often we create a full design and then implement the design over months even years.

Question 8

How do you accept payments?

Accepted Answer

Payments can be made through Honeybook with credit card or bank transfer. There is a 3% credit card fee and 1.5% bank transfer fee. Venmo, checks and cash are also accepted. Billing is sent out as needed for materials purchased after inital retainer has been paid.

What is the difference in a decorator and interior designer?

The term decorator and interior designer seems to be interchangeable these days. Interior Designer refers to someone who has formal education and a degree in the science of design. Interior Designers are trained to know the codes and are legally responsible for their designs. Designers can decorate, design the architecture of the interior, work alongside architects and contractors with the knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and codes. Decorators have experience in aesthetic implementation often focusing on the rooms look vs full functionality. There are decorators who have plenty of experience in design and can offer much insight into renovations as well. The title difference comes down to formal education and liability.
