Laksmi Lucky Lumpkin

Laksmi, pronounced "Locks Smee", it's Sanskrit, meaning the Goddess of Luck, Fortune and Prosperity. This is where the name Lucky comes from. I've been called that since I was little. I was not raised in the traditional East Tennessee home. My home offered a lot of room to discover what the world meant to us, my brother and me. I was born in the home my mother designed. She was pregnant when I was in utero, we both think the thoughts of design soaked into me then. I am lucky, as I've always known I would be an interior designer. There was a brief moment when I was six I thought I wanted to be a marine biologist. Then I found out it did not mean you played with dolphins all day. From age nine, I was rearranging the furniture at home, by myself, and asking if I could paint the walls. Fast forward to me starting college at 17. I've always taken an unconventional way at life. By the time I graduated with honors from ETSU in interior design, I had survived a divorce, while raising two beautiful kids and starting my career in the year of the economic crash, 2008. But, as always the universe had a plan for me. I can now look back on all of it with gratitude. I had such versatile experiences, each shaping me as to how I manage a successful business. I'm close to two decades of interior design with the last six running my own company, I'm proud to say I have confidence in who I am as an artist with the knowledge of how every job has its unique surprises. I'm still lucky in everyway even through the hardships it took getting me here. I love living in East Tennessee. I have a devoted and super cool husband who is an amazing potter, a blue heeler named Jules who now enjoys sniffs instead of walks at the age of 13, and the joy of having two adult kids who actually hang out with me. One of the best things are my clients who allow me to come into their lives and transform how they experience their world. I am so honored to be invited into the very place they share daily memories with the ones they love. It's the same when designing restaurants, a place where we gather is so important to me. I want to make it the best it can be. So, I have to ask you, “How does your home make you feel? What feeling do you desire which could make everyday better?" Your space is sacred. It's so cool knowing through neuroscience that great design improves the nervous system. That means our homes are containers of healing. Great interior design literally aids in your physical well being! Designing this way has been proven to lower blood pressure, heighten memory and retention, increase dopamine production, and prevent stress causing dis-ease. Amazingly, when incorporating NeuroAesthetic principals in commercial design there is a proven increase in employee happiness and focus thus creating a noticeable ROI in investing in their work environment. In retail stores and restaurants, NeuroAesthetic design principles make for a more engaging environment, thus encouraging clients to spend more time which equals greater profitability. I obtained my certification in NeuroAesthetic's "Science in Design" course September 2025. While taking the course, I realized I had been incorporating many of the principles of NeuroAesthetics in my design philosophy already. But, now I can be more intentional with my designs and know there is proven value in the beauty I create for you. How cool would it be if your environment helped heal you? I'm looking forward to know you. Sincerely, Laksmi Lucky Lumpkin
